Reindler joins Alan Docking Racing for the remainder of 2005 -

Barton Mawer will no longer be the only Aussie in this year’s British Formula 3 Championship in a few weeks time, with news emerging yesterday that 2004 Australian Formula 3 Champion, Karl Reindler, has signed to drive with Alan Docking Racing for the remainder of the 2005 racing season.
Reindler, 20, won’t actually make his International racing return on British Soil – electing to begin his campaign at the historic Monza Circuit in Italy early July. That means that the West Australian driver’s first two overseas races will come on two world class tracks – Reindler having competed with some success at the inaugural Bahrain F3 Super Prix late last year.
“It’s a great opportunity to race in British Formula 3,” he exclusively told Aussie F3.com. “To have my first round in the car at a place like Monza is just fantastic, and I cant wait to get over there and get in the car.”
Despite the relatively late conformation of his British F3 plans, one of Australian Formula 3’s most successful drivers said that he had a firm plan for his international attack.
“We are approaching it like we have the rest of my career – one year to learn and one as a ‘championship year’ to go right out for the title win,” he said, noting that he had a lot to learn about the highly competitive British racing industry. “Obviously the rest of this season will be a huge learning curve as I get used to the series, the tracks and the team. I’ll be over there absorbing all I can.”
Reindler said that the impact Ex Pat Aussie Team Owner Docking has had on the careers of Australian drivers wasn’t lost on him either.
“It’s great to be racing with Alan Docking Racing, a team with a long tradition of supporting Australian drivers Mark Webber, Marcos Ambrose, and the ‘Two Wills’ (Power and Davison) mean I’m in pretty good company as far as ADR drivers go.
“Alan has a big interest in supporting young Australian drivers,” he commented. “He keeps a close eye on motorsport in Australia – especially Australian F3 – and as soon as the position at the team opened (when Susie Stoddart left) he was on the phone to us and we got talking. Alan has been really helpful from the moment we began talking about getting over to Europe.”
And as far as his one off run at Phillip Island with old outfit Team BRM goes, Reindler said that it was a great chance to get some miles up before heading back overseas.
“It was great to be able to get back into a car after six months on the sidelines, and at a track I really enjoy. We didn’t get the results we really wanted, but we made a point and got some more miles under our belt.” He said.
The next round of the British F3 Championship will be held at the historic Castle Combe circuit on June 24 – 26, before Reindler makes his debut with ADR at Monza two weeks later.
