Matt Connolly has endured through a very long road to make it to the top of the Rolex GT field. His MCM team having led races several times only to see his race leading entry destroyed by aggressive drivers in other cars or with unfortunate late mechanical issues.
Through these trials of their will, the MCM team has fought through every obstacle along the way. Now familiar with their former championship winning Pontiac GTO-R, new additions to their crew to strengthen the team from within, and a dynamic driving lineup comprised of professionals from all over the world, Matt Connolly is feeling the butterflies for a different reason….this could be their year! Things got off to an exciting start for the team as they left the January Daytona Test Days as the fastest of all the Pontiac GT entries in the vast field.
Leading the efforts behind the wheel for the #21 Rolex Grand American entry will be Diego Alessi. Alessi is known throughout Europe as an extremely fast driver having taken a number of pole positions and wins this past season in his FIA GT3 Aston Martin, including a win at the season finale at the Dubai Autodrome. A newcomer to the series, and to sportscars as a whole, is open wheel ace Karl Reindler. The quick Australian represented his country well with an A1 GP podium at Beijing in 2007, and is a former F3 Champion. American sportscar veterans Vic Rice and Hal Prewitt further support the lineup. Vic and Hal have a number of Rolex races and seasons under their belts and the lineup from top to bottom figures to be on pace with the top of the field from the green flag all the way to the checker.
This entry is supported by it's marketing partners National Tyre, Novus Capital, CityDeals.com, Festivals of Speed, P1 Groupe, Drink Florida Orange Juice, and new race themed clothing line BlackFlagGear.com. Team owner Matt Connolly and his MCM team are very proud to be representing these companies in 2008 and look forward to providing them the many rewards that running at the front and winning can bring.
